GourmetGiftBasket Summer Fun Care Package Review and Giveaway!

When the box arrived in the mail, the kids brought it directly to my room, where I work. They are accustomed to packages arriving for review, and quite often bring them to me, followed by a sigh and a hopeless, "I know this one's for you...". But, this one wasn't for me...well, not necessarily. Regardless, I simply nodded and thanked them for bringing it to me, not wanting to ruin the surprise. Summer vacation had just started and the fun was just about to begin...

When the weekend came, it was time to open the box. I told the kids that the box actually was for them, but they had to get their chores done first. Let me tell you, the chores were done much faster than normal, with sheer anticipation and excitement geared around what may be in the box. The air was filled with mystery and the kids were whispering, "What do you think is in the box?", while tossing around their guesses.

It just so happened that I was working with GourmetGiftBaskets.com to review one of their fantastic care packages, and in the spirit of the summer, I chose to review the Deluxe Summer Fun Care Package. This one, I knew for a fact, my children would love! And, love they do!

I had to

Comparing the picture to what we received in the box, there were a few differences. I will discuss them in a little bit, but first...

Do You Have the Same Problem?

One of the things that I have been struggling with this summer is getting these kids away from the computers, game consoles and televisions. I'm ready to unplug everything! As soon as their daily chores are finished, they are immediately running to some kind of technology. Am I alone here?

The Care Package...now, this glorious care package has brought a new light! It's a matter of reminding the kids about the box (where we still keep all of the goodies) and, although sometimes it takes a little convincing and twisting of arms, legs and puling on ears, we're headed out for some fun in the sun!

Balls, Frisbees and Toy Guns

Now, what exactly did we receive in our box? Like the picture, there was a G2 Air rubber ball, a tie-died beach ball, foam football with a tail and a Frisbee that are huge hits for all of the children! They're great for both the backyard and the park. Then, there were three types of "shooters". One came with little foam airplanes that fly when you shoot them and two shoot the foam bullets - all very safe for a bunch of children playing around. Mini-squirt guns added to the "shooting" fun - and ensured that everyone had their very own toy to shoot around with.

Water Balloon Launcher, Goggles for the Pool, Yo-yo, Bubbles and Glow-in-the-Dark Items

Then, there were the exhilarating water balloon launcher, which provided some cool-down from the warm summer sun. Two pairs of swim goggles were perfect to accompany our child-sized pool in the backyard - um, yes, the children must learn to share and take turns with these. A rainbow yo-yo brought back the days when I was a child. The bubbles and the glow sticks were perfect for the little ones - and, yes the older kids had their fun with them, too. As a matter of fact, the night that we opened the box, two of the boys decorated their room with glow sticks when the darkness settled in. The glow-in-the-dark bracelets were the finishing touch.

Temporary Tattoos

Just yesterday, we opened the temporary tattoos and they all had fun picking out which ones they wanted and learning to follow directions to correctly apply them. (Applying the tattoos was perfect for teaching them how to follow directions.)

The Difference

I assume that the glow bars with the ball and the velcro toss-and-catch set that are seen in the photo were replaced with the two shooters that we received - and the kids and I are not complaining a bit! We are extremely ecstatic with the Summer Fun Care Package that we received from GourmetGiftBaskets.com!

When to Purchase a Care Package

If you're looking for the perfect gift for a large family (or any children, for that matter) to provide some summertime fun, this is definitely an option I would recommend! It would be great for birthday parties, family reunions and get-togethers or to provide a ton of fun at a barbeque where lots of kids are expected. It's also a perfect Care Package for camping or to bring along for a day trip to the lake or the park.

But, really, do you need an excuse to buy a Care Package for children?
