Celeb Post-Pregnancy: Does It Makes "Regular Moms" Feel Pressure to Drop the Weight Fast?

The recent September issue of DuJour has opened up some controversial conversations about post-pregnancy weight, celebrities, and whether "regular moms" feel pressure to drop the weight like a celebrity - or not.

Tracy Anderson, the celebrity trainer who helped women like Gweneth Paltrow and Madonna slim down after pregnancy, was featured in the magazine, where she was quoted, "A lot of women use pregnancy as an excuse to let their bodies go, and that’s the worst thing. I’ve seen so many women who … come to me years later [after having a baby] and say, ‘Oh, my body is like this because I had three kids.’ ”

As a mom who gained a whopping 60 pounds during her first pregnancy, Anderson knows how pregnancy can change a body, and how difficult it is to whittle the extra pounds down. In a conversation with Lara Spencer at ABC, she further explained what she had bee quoted in the DuJour article:

“What I mean is that pregnancy is difficult. And every pregnancy is completely unique. We crave a lot, and I think in today’s society women have all this pressure to look a certain way … I think that they turn to diet a lot because that’s what works for them, because fitness routines usually let them down.”

The Truth for Celebs - Changing the Perspective

But, maybe we're looking at things from the wrong perspective...

Celebrity moms are under pressure that most of us "regular moms" couldn't even imagine! If they don't lose the weight, they could be attacked by the media, like Jessica Simpson, Hillary Duff, or Bollywood's star, Aishwarya Rai.

Or, they could lose money, contracts and opportunities, like Jessica Simpson, who signed a contract to lose the baby weight within a certain amount of time, or not get paid - 4 million dollars!

The Big Pic

So, maybe us "regular moms" aren't looking at the big picture, the reality that these celebrities face...the unbelievably nasty remarks and photographs that the paparazzi publish in magazines and online with captions like, "Look at those thighs!" and "Leftover abs"...

Honestly, the first 6 weeks (...6 months!) after pregnancy, every mom should be able to ENJOY their time with their new addition, rather than have to worry about looking perfect for...who, really? Who in the world do women have to look perfect for? The media? Men? The world?

The Reality

Gaining weight is something that comes along with pregnancy, and losing that weight is not the most important thing once a baby is born...that BABY becomes the most important thing. Who is anyone to judge whether a new mom should lose the weight in 6 weeks...or 6 years?

Yes, everyone should try to stay within their average weight computations to stay healthy, for both themselves and their child, but to stress that much to look good for others? Ridiculous!

What do you think?
