There are plenty of shake recipes out there, but I have taken our family's favorite, quick 'n' easy Shamrock Shake recipe and reduced the amount of the ingredients to make 2 good-sized shakes. (After all, we have to mix up an entire 5 pound tub of ice cream and gallon of milk for our 9 kids! Especially if they want seconds - and they always do!)
MMMMM, doesn't that look good? So, here we go, quick and simple Shamrock Shakes are made like this:
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream (add more for thicker, less for thinner)
3/4 cups milk
½ teaspoon mint extract
3-4 drops green food coloring
whip cream topping
We just add it all in the blender and blend, watching the green swirl around until it's all the same, consistent, mint-green color.
A couple of tips we have learned: Using food coloring that is natural will get that softer green color, but it will also effect the taste, so be sure not to add too much. I also like to use the can of whipped cream, that way they come out looking like restaurant quality shakes (like in the pic).
Enjoy!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
