Are Proud Parents Annoying Their Facebook Friends?

I have wondered this question about my own posting habits: Am I annoying people?

I actually enjoy seeing friends and family's children grow and achieve. I empathize when their kids are suffering illness. I feel like it creates a connection. We can be in each other's daily lives and experience the beautiful moments of childhood together, no matter how far away we are. Not to mention how it keeps our little ones busy looking at the babies and kids on our Facebook feeds.

It seems that there is no need to fret.

According to a new study, there is no reason to fret.

Despite our worries, research concluded that posts by parents of new babies had 37% more interactions from family members and 47% more from friends. Believe it or not, 56% of parents with new babies check in on their mobile Facebook before 7 a.m.

Parents tended to post more to Facebook than non-parents. In fact, average users post far less than new parents on Facebook. Proud parents posted 2.3 times the average photos, 2.9 times more videos and update their statuses 1.8 times more. Because we want to hear how many times little Sarah pooped her diaper today. :)

For those of us who were worried, though, it's a given that we are going to post our children on Facebook. In fact, the study reported that people are aware "parenting has become a digitally shared experience."

Although the conclusions did not actually say that we are not annoying people, pretty much all parents are doing what we are doing. I say share away! If someone doesn't like seeing posts of our kids, they can skip on by!
