Although I love my children with all of my heart and would do anything in the world for them (Okay, I admit: I spoil them!), there are things that they do that drive me completely insane. I am sure that I am not alone in this world of insanity. This blog is for the other mothers that are driven to that line right before insanity on a daily basis.
Have you ever sat down to go pee and felt that the seat was wet? That MORE than gets on my nerves! It makes me down-right MEAN for the rest of the day. And, with five boys (one potty training, and one still in diapers), the war is not over by far!
My two year old will be sitting quietly and playing, and then, all of a sudden, he will let out this gut-wrenching scream-squeal that throws me into a whirlwind, running to figure out what is wrong. Then, it just so happens that he decided to scream "Just because".
I work all day sweeping, mopping, doing yesterday's dishes, cleaning the bathroom, doing laundry, and generally putting things where they belong, and then turn around to find out that the 1 year old and 2 year old tornadoes have poured water all over the clean floors ("I'm washing the floors!" they protest), overflowed the sink ("I was doing dishes, duh!" the child tells me), pulled half the clothes back out of the drawers ("They're not clean, they're derrrrrty!"), and squirted toothpaste all over the bathroom sink ("I was brushin' my teef!"). Deep breath...
Three of my children, bless their hearts for even trying, have had a habit of putting their shoes on the wrong feet consistently. I, personally, would find that very uncomfortable, but they tell me it feels fine. Taking them to the grocery store or out to eat with their shoes on the wrong feet stirs up a bunch of giggles, but it drives me crazy. How can that feel right? And, doesn't it appear the least bit weird when they look at their feet and the toes are pointing outwards? Apparently not. Let us not forget the backwards shirt and pants. Yes, most of my children have gone through that phase as well...when I ask them if the tag in the front bothers them, they tell me no...go figure. Maybe I am the one that is backwards...
The tattling is the final thing that gets on my very last nerve! There are days when all I hear is "Mooooooooooom!" I wonder if it is a conspiracy to drive me absolutely crazy...
In addition to the things that my children do to get on my nerves, here are a couple of other things that set the nerves on fire:
I habitually check the lines at the grocery store and get in the shortest line every time (don't you do the same?) and it ALWAYS ends up being the longest line, especially when I'm in a hurry. To make matters worse, the grocery stores have the candy aisles right in the check-out lane to tempt the children while we are waiting for hours.
So, you're in a big parking lot and you're looking for a spot, and, lo and behold!...you spot one in the next lane. Quickly, but safely, you maneuver your way through the lot. And someone pulls into the spot right before you get to it. Grrrrrr!
I have not exactly made it to the level of "completely crazy". My sanity levels wax and wane, but I am hanging in here day by day, just as long as I do not sit on a wet toilet seat. Leave a comment to let me know what your children do to get on your last nerve.
I like your blog! I'm visiting from mom bloggers club. I am a new mom and my nine month old all ready drives me crazy sometimes. I love him to death but he does this whine that makes me insane. I'm like either go ahead and cry or be quiet. Glad to see I'm not alone. I'm your newest follower. If you get a chance maybe you could stop by my blog. www.mysteryshoppingteacher.blogspot.com
